Fantastic Mr. Fox is a 2009 American stop-motion animated comedy film based on Roald Dahl’s children’s novel of the same name. The film is about a fox who steals food each night from three mean and wealthy farmers. They become fed up with Mr. Fox’s stealing and try to kill him, so they dig their way into the foxes’ home, but the animals are able to outsmart the farmers and live underground.
This film is Wes Anderson’s first animated film and I think he did an outstanding job making the animal characters look whimsical and the human characters look very realistic. This film is filled with slapstick humor and some fighting and mild violence. Some of the humor is adult and will go over most children’s heads, which is why the movie is rated PG. All the voice actors, like George Clooney as Mr. Fox, Meryl Streep as Mrs. Fox and Jason Schwartzman as Ash, did a great job.
This film is one that older children and adults can love. With the art and humor from director Wes Anderson and the unique animation, this one hilarious, tragic at times, clever and “Fantastic” film that can be watched over and over. 5/5
