Going in Style is a 2017 American heist comedy film directed by Zach Braff. A remake of the 1979 film of the same name, it stars Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Alan Arkin, Joey King, Matt Dillon, Christopher Lloyd, Anne Margaret and John Ortiz. It is about three elderly lifelong friends who decide to nix retirement and come through to their loved ones by risking their lives and rob the very bank that swiped their money.
Although, I haven’t seen the original to compare it to, I found this to movie to be both hilarious and heartwarming at the same time. It had clever plots and lines and lots of dry humor. But, at times this film seemed a little weak and sometimes strained, despite the great casting. There were a few times that I got bored and was hoping for more. Throughout the movie, there were laugh out loud parts and just rather slow and boring scenes, where I was forcing myself to watch.
This film will never win any great awards, but I found it rather funny and pretty amusing. Good for ages 13+ 3/5
